- January 1 – All UK railway companies joined together to form four bigger companies.
- January 10 – Lithuania took control of the Memel region.
- January 11 – Soldiers from France and Belgium moved into the Ruhr area in Germany. They wanted Germany to pay back money for war damages.
- February 16 – Howard Carter opened the burial chamber of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.
- February 22 – The famous scientist Albert Einstein visited Barcelona. He was invited by another scientist, Esteban Terradas i Illa, for a special course.
- March – The play Antigone by Jean Cocteau was performed in Paris. Famous artists helped create it: Pablo Picasso designed the sets, Arthur Honegger wrote the music, and Gabrielle Chanel made the costumes. Antonin Artaud acted in the play.
- March 1 – The USS Connecticut, a US Navy ship, was taken out of service.
- March 2 – Time Magazine was sold for the first time.
- March 9 – Vladimir Lenin, a leader of the Soviet Union, had his third stroke. He became very ill and could no longer speak or lead the government.
- April – The Irish Civil War ended.
- April 12 – The Kandersteg International Scout Centre was created.
- April 23 – The Gdynia Seaport officially opened.
- April 26 – Prince Albert married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in Westminster Abbey.
- May 23 – Belgium's SABENA Airlines started flying.
- May 27 – The Ku Klux Klan did not follow a law that said they had to share the names of their members.
- June 9 – A military coup happened in Bulgaria. The prime minister, Aleksandar Stamboliyski, was removed from power and later killed on June 14.
- June 18 – The Etna volcano erupted, leaving 60,000 people without homes.
