- 656 – Ali became the leader (Caliph) of the Rashidun Caliphate.
- 860 – During the Byzantine–Rus' War, a large fleet of about 200 Rus' ships sailed into the Bosporus and began attacking the areas around Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire.
- 1053 – At the Battle of Civitate, three thousand Norman horsemen, led by Count Humphrey, defeated the army of Pope Leo IX.
- 1264 – The Parliament of Ireland held its first known meeting in Castledermot, County Kildare. This was an important step for the Irish legislature.
- 1265 – A draft peace agreement was made between Venetian representatives and Emperor Michael VIII Palaiologos, but it was not officially approved by the Doge Reniero Zeno.
