History of Al Nasr Football Club
Early Years: Founding and Growth (1945–1973)
Al Nasr Sports Club started in 1945 in Al Ghubaiba, Dubai. A group of young men founded it, making it the oldest football club in the UAE. For three years, the team played in an empty field. In 1948, they decided to set up proper football rules.
In 1951, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum helped the club find a headquarters. They rented a room in a cafe near a fish market for meetings. Later, the club moved to Shindagha. At first, the club was called Al Ahli.
In the 1960s, after a loss to another team named Al Ahli in Qatar, the players suggested a name change. They chose Al Nasr, meaning "victory," which became the official name. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan visited their new, larger headquarters in Shindagha. He gave the club 60,000 AED to help them grow and improve.
Rising to the Top: League Era (1973–1990)
The UAE Pro League began in 1973. This meant Al Nasr needed its own stadium. Construction of Al Maktoum Stadium started. Until it was finished in 1980, the team played home games at Rashid Stadium.
During this exciting period, Al Nasr won many titles. They won the UAE league three times. They also won the President's Cup three times and a UAE Federation Cup. The club also hosted friendly matches with famous international teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Santos.
Modern Challenges and Successes (1990–Present)
Since the 1980s, Al Nasr has continued to be a strong team. While they haven't won the league title recently, they have won important cup competitions. These include the President's Cup, the League Cup, and the GCC Champions League.
Around 2018, Al Maktoum Stadium was renovated for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. In 2019, Al Nasr played another friendly match against Arsenal. The club has also seen changes in its coaching staff, bringing in well-known coaches like Krunoslav Jurčić and Ramón Díaz. Currently, Alfred Schreuder is the head coach.

Al Nasr has some big rivalries in football.
