Al-Nasr CSC is a professional football club from Al Nasr, Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Its name, Al-Nasr, means "victory" in Arabic. The club was started in 1945, making it the oldest football club in the UAE. They play in the top league, the UAE Pro League.

History of Al Nasr Football Club

Early Years (1945–1973)

Al Nasr Sports Club began in 1945 in Al Ghubaiba, Dubai. A group of young men founded it, making it the oldest football club in the UAE. For three years, the team played in an empty field. In 1948, they decided to set up proper football rules.

In 1951, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum chose a cafe near a fish market as the club's first meeting place. The club rented a room there for meetings and studies. Later, they moved their main office to Shindagha.

The club was first called Al Ahli. But in the 1960s, after losing a game to another team called Al Ahli in Qatar, the players suggested changing the name. They chose Al Nasr, meaning "victory," and it became the official name. The club then moved to a bigger house in Shindagha. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan visited them and gave the club 60,000 AED to help them grow.

Growing Competition (1973–1990)

The UAE Pro League started in 1973. More teams began to appear, so Al Nasr decided to build its own stadium. Construction of Al Maktoum Stadium began. The team joined the league in 1974. While their new stadium was being built, they played home games at Rashid Stadium. Al Maktoum Stadium was finished in 1980.

During this time, Al Nasr won three UAE league titles, three President's Cup titles, and a UAE Federation Cup. The club also hosted friendly matches with famous international teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Santos.

Recent Times (1990–Present)

Since the late 1980s, Al Nasr has not won the main league title. However, they have won other important cup competitions. These include the President's Cup, the League Cup, and the GCC Champions League.

Around 2018, Al Maktoum Stadium was updated for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. In 2019, Al Nasr played another friendly match against Arsenal there. The club has had several coaches over the years, including Krunoslav Jurčić and Ramón Díaz. Currently, Slaviša Jokanović is the head coach.

Team Rivalries

Al Nasr has a big rivalry with Al Wasl. Their matches are often called the Bur Dubai Derby or simply the Dubai Derby. Both teams compete to be known as the best club in the Bur Dubai area. Al Nasr also has a rivalry with Shabab Al Ahli, another team from Dubai, though not from the same specific area. They also have rivalries with Sharjah and Al Ain.
