The EE Rising Star Award is a special prize given to new and exciting actors and actresses. It celebrates young talents in the movie world. This award is part of the annual British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTAs. BAFTA stands for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Five actors are chosen as nominees each year. They can be from any country and can work in movies, TV shows, or both. A group of experts at BAFTA picks these five nominees. But the final winner is chosen by people like you! Anyone can vote for their favorite nominee online, by text, or by phone. This award was first supported by Orange UK until 2012. Since 2013, EE has been the main sponsor.

About the EE Rising Star Award
This award is a big deal for actors who are just starting out. It helps them get noticed for their amazing work. It shines a spotlight on their talent and helps them become bigger stars. The award shows that the public and film experts believe in their future.
How the Award Started
The Rising Star Award began in 2006. It was created to honor Mary Selway, a very important person in the film industry. Mary Selway was a "casting director." This means she was responsible for finding and choosing actors for movies. She helped many new actors become famous. The award keeps her spirit alive by supporting new talent.
The very first winner of this award was the Scottish actor James McAvoy in 2006. Since then, a few non-British actors have also won. These include Eva Green, Shia LaBeouf, and Kristen Stewart. The most recent winner of the award is Robert Aramayo, who received the honor in 2026 for his work in 2025.
When you look at the lists below, the names in bold with a gold background are the winners. The other names are the nominees. The years shown are when the films were released. The award ceremony itself usually happens in the early part of the next year.
