The 12 Treasures of Spain (which means 12 Tesoros de España in Spanish) was a special project. It aimed to find the "Twelve Treasures of the Kingdom of Spain". Two companies, Antena 3 and Cope, organized this exciting contest. The final list of winners was announced on December 31, 2007. The chosen treasures included nine amazing buildings, two natural wonders, and one famous piece of art.

How the Treasures Were Chosen

In 2007, there was a big worldwide contest to pick the New Seven Wonders of the World. Inspired by this, a few months later, Antena 3 and Onda Cero decided to start their own competition. They wanted to find the 12 best treasures in Spain!

Voting for Spain's Wonders

People from all over Spain got to vote in this contest. They could vote using the internet or their mobile phones. Over 9,000 different places and things were suggested at first! The organizers then narrowed down this huge list to just 20 top candidates. Originally, they planned to choose 7 treasures, but later they decided to pick 12 instead.
