Roasted baby back pork ribs

Pork is the name for meat that comes from a domestic pig. It's one of the most popular meats eaten around the world! People have been raising pigs for food for a very long time, even as far back as 5000 BC. You can eat pork freshly cooked or preserved in different ways.

Some religions, like Judaism and Islam, and some Christian groups, do not eat pork. This is part of their religious beliefs.

It's very important to cook pork properly. If pork is eaten raw or not cooked enough, it can sometimes cause a sickness called trichinosis. This sickness is caused by tiny worms that can live in the meat. To stay safe, the U.S. Department of Agriculture suggests cooking ground pork to at least 160°F (71°C) and whole cuts of pork to at least 145°F (63°C). After cooking, it's good to let the meat rest for a few minutes.
