Did you know that stamps are tiny pieces of art that tell stories? They often feature important people from history or famous figures from today. This article is a list of people who have appeared on United Kingdom stamps. The year next to each name shows when they first appeared on a stamp.

For a long time, the Royal Mail had a special rule: only the monarch (the King or Queen) and other members of the Royal Family could be shown on British stamps while they were still alive. This rule was very strict and was only broken a few times. For example, in 1967, a stamp showed a tiny, unclear person on a yacht, who was actually Francis Chichester sailing around the world. Later, on a stamp honoring Freddie Mercury, you could just see Roger Taylor, the drummer, in the background.

The rule started to change in 2003 when players from England's Rugby World Cup team were shown after their big win, but their faces were not clear. The rule was completely changed in 2005. That year, stamps were released to celebrate the English cricket team's victory in Ashes series. These stamps clearly showed team members like captain Michael Vaughan and Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff. Since then, other famous people have appeared, including members of The Beatles and actor David Tennant. British athletes who won gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics also appeared on stamps.
