The 2011 Formula One season was the 62nd year of the exciting Formula One racing championship. At first, there was talk about adding a thirteenth team, but the racing organization, FIA, decided to keep the same twelve teams from the year before. The race calendar was planned to have twenty races, including a new one in India. However, the Bahrain Grand Prix had to be cancelled because of protests in the country. It was briefly put back on the schedule, but then the organizers cancelled it again.

Here are the teams and drivers who competed in the 2011 Formula One season. Each team has a special car (chassis) and engine, and they all used Pirelli tyres.

What's new in 2011?
The 2011 Formula One season brought some exciting changes to the rules:
- A new race, the Indian Grand Prix, was added to the schedule.
- Pirelli became the only company supplying tyres for all the teams.
- Adjustable Rear Wings: Drivers could now adjust their rear wing during the race. This system, called DRS, replaced the adjustable front wing from 2010. It helps cars go faster on straight parts of the track. Drivers can use it only in certain areas and if they are close enough to the car in front (within one second). This change was made to make it easier for cars to overtake each other.
- F-duct Banned: The F-duct, a special system used in 2010 to change airflow, was no longer allowed.
- Smaller Shark Fins: The tall engine cover that looked like a shark fin was made smaller. Its height and length were limited.
- KERS Returns: The Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) was used again. KERS collects energy when the car brakes and gives the driver a short boost of power. To encourage teams to use KERS, the minimum weight of the car was increased from 620 kg to 640 kg.
- The 107% Rule: This rule came back for qualifying sessions. It means that if a car is too slow in the first qualifying session (Q1), it won't be allowed to race. A car's fastest lap time must be within 107% of the fastest car's time in Q1.
* For example, if the fastest car does a lap in 1 minute and 40 seconds (100 seconds), then any other car must complete a lap in 1 minute and 47 seconds (107 seconds) or faster to qualify. If a car is slower than 1 minute and 47 seconds, it cannot race.
- Engine Rules: Starting from the European Grand Prix, teams could no longer change how their engine worked after the qualifying session. Also, from the British Grand Prix, teams were not allowed to use exhaust gases to improve aerodynamics when the driver wasn't pressing the throttle.
