Church of England
The Church of England is a big part of Christian life in Cheshire. Most of its churches here belong to the diocese of Chester. A few are part of the diocese of Liverpool.
Since the mid-1800s, the Chester diocese has been split into two main areas called archdeaconries: the Chester Archdeaconry and the Macclesfield Archdeaconry.
