National Women's Hall of Fame facts for kids
The National Women's Hall of Fame (NWHF) is a special place in America. It was created to honor and celebrate women who have made a big difference. The Hall of Fame started in 1969 in Seneca Falls, New York. The first women were added in 1973. By 2021, 303 amazing women had been honored.
Anyone can suggest a woman to be honored. A group of judges then chooses the women. They look for women who have changed society in important ways. This includes social, economic, or cultural changes. The women must have had a big impact on the country or the world. Their achievements must also be lasting and valuable.
New women are added to the Hall of Fame every two years. These ceremonies happen in the fall of odd-numbered years. The names of the chosen women are announced earlier in the spring. This usually happens in March, which is Women's History Month. The NWHF is a non-profit group. It gets money from donations and ticket sales.

Where is the Hall of Fame Located?
The National Women's Hall of Fame has moved a few times. First, it was at Eisenhower College until 1979. Then, the organization rented an old bank building. This historic bank was fixed up to hold exhibits and offices.
In August 2020, the Hall of Fame moved to its newest home. This is the historic Seneca Knitting Mill. It is right across a canal from the Women's Rights National Historical Park. This park includes the Wesleyan Chapel. That's where the important 1848 women's rights convention happened. This event helped start the women's right to vote movement in America. Moving into the mill took many years of work.
In 2014, the Hall of Fame started a big fundraising effort. They wanted to raise $20 million to develop the 1844 Seneca Knitting Mill. This mill is connected to the movement to end slavery. It is also linked to the start of women's rights. The first part of the move doubled the size of the Hall of Fame. In 2021, they were still raising money for the next part. This will add an elevator and more space. Once finished, the mill will have 16,000 square feet. This will include more exhibit space and rooms for events.
