List of churches in Cornwall facts for kids
Churches are special buildings where people gather for worship and community activities. Cornwall is a beautiful county in England with a rich history, and it's home to many interesting churches, some of them very old! This article will tell you about some of these churches, both old and new, and what makes them unique.
Discovering Cornwall's Old Churches
Many churches in Cornwall have been around for hundreds of years. They were built in the Middle Ages, which was a long time ago! These old churches are often called medieval parish churches. They are important because they show us how people lived and worshipped in the past.
Churches You Can Visit Today
Most towns and villages in Cornwall have churches that are still active. This means they hold regular services and are important places for their communities. Cornwall has about 627 churches for its 553,700 people. That's roughly one church for every 883 people!
However, some areas in Cornwall do not have active churches. These include Paul, St Martin-by-Looe, St Stephens by Launceston Rural, and the small, unpopulated area of Wolf Rock.
This table lists many of the active churches in Cornwall. You can see their names, where they are, when they were built, and what type of Christian church they are.
