Children of U.S. presidents include their biological children, stepchildren, and adopted children. Two presidential children, John Quincy Adams and George W. Bush, later became president themselves. John Scott Harrison is unique because he was both a son of a U.S. president (William Henry Harrison) and the father of another U.S. president (Benjamin Harrison).

Six presidents did not have any known biological children: George Washington, James Madison, Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk, James Buchanan, and Warren G. Harding. However, some of their wives had children from earlier marriages.

Presidential children are often well-known because they grow up around important political and social leaders. They are also often in the public eye, like celebrities. These children can also have a big impact on their parents, sometimes by offering advice or by facing challenges that affect their parents' decisions. Some sons and wards of presidents even worked for their fathers in the White House.

Researchers study presidential children to understand how growing up in powerful circles affects their lives and goals. They also look at how these children influence society and politics.
