Amy is the main character of the series. She was the first to suggest that she and Dan join The Clue Hunt. She realized how serious their situation was when the Starling Triplets were injured. Amy later found out that Isabel Kabra caused the fire that killed her parents. After defeating Isabel, Amy brought all the Cahills together. She became the leader of the Cahill family.
After the Clue Hunt, Amy and Dan lived with their great-uncle Fiske Cahill and au pair Nellie Gomez. Amy started training in self-defense and martial arts. She also began dating Evan Tolliver.
Later, Amy and Dan were attacked and received a message from Vesper 1. They had to steal important objects for Vesper 1. Amy learned that Sinead was a Vesper agent. She helped free hostages but lost Evan in a fight. After Isabel destroyed a dangerous device, Amy was left unconscious.
During a funeral, Amy was attacked. The government took control of the Cahill command center. Amy, Dan, and Nellie traveled to Ireland. There, Amy found Olivia Cahill's journal and the antidote for the 39 clues. She led the Cahills to find ingredients for the antidote. In Guatemala, Amy took the serum to save Dan. She later flew a plane with the antidote but crashed. After stopping a dangerous plan, Amy stepped down as leader, giving the role to Ian Kabra. She and Dan then started traveling.
When Nathaniel took over, Amy and Dan were called back. Even though Ian was the leader, people often looked to Amy for guidance. She was captured by Alec Spasky, who then pretended to kill her and allied with her. She found Nathaniel's bees. After Nathaniel's defeat, Amy decided that Cahill leadership would change every four years. She made Dan the current leader.
