The Miss Earth 2013 competition was the 13th time this big event happened. It took place on December 7, 2013, at the beautiful Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa, Metro Manila, Philippines. Tereza Fajksová from the Czech Republic, who was Miss Earth 2012, passed her crown to the new winner, Alyz Henrich from Venezuela.

A total of 88 contestants joined the pageant that year. This was the most contestants ever in Miss Earth history! The show was shown live around the world on Star World. It was also broadcast on ABS-CBN, Studio 23, and The Filipino Channel in the Philippines. People in other countries could watch it too. Karla Henry, who was Miss Earth 2008, was there. She thanked everyone for helping the Philippines after the big Typhoon Haiyan.

This Miss Earth competition was special for a few reasons. When Alyz Henrich won, Venezuela became the only country to win all the major beauty pageants at least twice. Katia Wagner from Austria became Miss Earth-Air, which was the highest award an Austrian had ever won in Miss Earth. Punika Kulsoontornrut from Thailand won Miss Earth-Water 2013. This was also the highest award for a Thai contestant in this pageant. She shares this honor with Watsaporn Wattanakoon, who won Miss Earth-Water in 2010. Catharina Choi from Korea won Miss Earth-Fire. She was the first Asian to win this title.

The main idea or "theme" for Miss Earth 2013 was "International Year of Water Cooperation." This theme focused on how important it is for countries to work together to protect water.
