Street food: a hot dog stand in Visby, Sweden

Street food is yummy, ready-to-eat food or drinks. You can usually buy it from a vendor on the street, at a market, or at a fair. It's often sold from a small food booth, food cart, or food truck. Street food is made for you to eat right away! Some street foods are only found in certain places, but many are now popular all over the world. You can find street food vendors everywhere, but what they sell changes a lot from one place to another.

Most street foods are like finger food (you eat them with your hands) and fast food. They are usually cheaper than eating at a restaurant. A study from 2007 by the Food and Agriculture Organization found that 2.5 billion people enjoy street food every single day!
