Oregon Regions Explained
The regions used in the museum list help you know where each museum is located in Oregon. These regions are based on how the Oregon Museums Association divides the state:
- Central:
- This includes all of Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties.
- Most of Wasco County is also in this region, except for the northern part (like towns along Interstate 84).
- Coast:
- This covers all of Clatsop, Coos, Curry, Lincoln, and Tillamook counties.
- It also includes the western parts of Douglas County (like Scottsburg) and western parts of Lane County (like Mapleton).
- Eastern:
- Mount Hood/The Gorge:
- This region includes all of Hood River County.
- It also covers parts of northern Wasco County (towns along Interstate 84) and eastern parts of Multnomah and Clackamas counties, like Multnomah Falls and Bonneville.
- Portland Metro:
- This area includes all of Columbia and Washington counties.
- It also covers parts of Clackamas and Multnomah counties, including Sandy and Estacada.
- Southern:
- This region includes all of Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, and Lake counties.
- Most of Douglas County is here, except for Scottsburg and areas to its west.
