List of European stadiums by capacity facts for kids
Europe is home to some of the world's most amazing stadiums! This article lists the largest ones, focusing on those that can hold 30,000 people or more. These stadiums are ordered by how many seats they have. The numbers show the permanent seating capacity for each stadium.
Sometimes, a stadium's capacity might change a little. For example, some seats might be temporarily unusable, or special movable seats might be used. If you see an asterisk (*) next to a team's name, it means they don't play all their home games at that stadium.
Many of these stadiums are given a "UEFA category" by UEFA, which is the organization that runs football in Europe. This category shows if a stadium is big enough and has the right facilities to host major club competitions like the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League. It also shows if they can host national team tournaments like the UEFA European Championship (Euros) and the FIFA World Cup when it's held in Europe.
Since May 22, 2023, only the biggest Category 4 stadiums can host the finals of these major tournaments:
- 70,000+ seats for the UEFA Champions League Final.
- 60,000+ seats for the UEFA Euro Final.
- 40,000+ seats for the UEFA Europa League Final.
- 30,000+ seats for the UEFA Conference League Final, UEFA Women's Champions League Final, and UEFA Nations League Finals.
- 20,000+ seats for the UEFA Women's Euro Final and the UEFA Super Cup.
