How Towns and Villages Change: Mergers
Sometimes, smaller municipalities decide to join together to form a larger one. This is called a "merger." It can happen for many reasons. For example, joining forces can help them share resources better, like schools or emergency services. It can also make local government more efficient.

- Bussy-sur-Morges and Chardonney-sur-Morges joined to become Bussy-Chardonney.
- In 1962:
- Montreux-Châtelard and Montreux-Planches merged to form Montreux.

- Lavey and Morcles merged to create Lavey-Morcles.
- Romainmôtier and Envy merged to form Romainmôtier-Envy.
- On January 1, 1999:
- Lussery and Villars-Lussery merged to become Lussery-Villars.

- Champmartin and Cudrefin merged under the name of Cudrefin.
